Barbara Jean Young Thomas was born October 8, 1949, to the late Joe Young and Dorothy Holden Young.  She accepted Christ at an early age at Providence Methodist Church under the tutelage of Rev. Eugene Brown.  Through the years she served our Lord in several churches.  The latter being Gospel Light Baptist Church pastored by Rev. James Sykes.  She was educated in the Caddo Parish School System and graduated from Walnut Hill Jr./Sr. High School in 1967.  

Barbara met and married Marvin C. Thomas in 1967.  To their union four daughters were born.  Her youngest daughter preceded her in death.  Her husband, parents and brother also preceded her in death.  

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory:  3 daughters, Marvetta Green (Carl) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Karen Thomas (Decarlas) and Urania Dock both of Shreveport, Louisiana; 18 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; 3 God daughters, Rose Dewitt, Veronica and Lashaunda Swinney and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  A very close cousin/brother Harold Williams and her best friend Julia Kelly.
