Comilla "Chicken" Fisher Dupree was born February 11, 1938, in Natchitoches to the union of Birel Fisher, Sr. and Ida Nelson Conley. She was called to eternal life on September 24, 2022, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. She was baptized at an early age at St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor P.M. Gillie. She later moved her membership to the St. Savior Baptist Church and finished her work at her favorite place, First Baptist Church Amulet.
''Chicken'' graduated from Central High School and worked with various agencies in the parish until her retirement. She was an assistant cook at North Natchitoches Elementary School for many years then went to Natchitoches Area Action Association to work in the Campti area as a social outreach worker. She assisted the participants in learning to quilt, ceramics and feeding programs. After retiring she became a homemaker and stay-at-home mother for her six children. She later decided to go back to work driving the van for the Natchitoches Association of Retarded Citizens driving the citizens to jobs and activities. After her final retirement, her favorite pastime was watching old TV shows, game shows and westerns until basketball season started.
She was a very active member of First Baptist Church serving beside her husband, the late Dr. Joe D. Dupree, Jr. Even after his passing she was still known as the "Mother of the Church" where she had her own reserved parking space. ''Chicken'' was a dedicated member of the Deaconess Board, Mission Department, Adult Choir and Sunday School. She also served on several committees over the years. She was always willing and ready to do whatever was asked of her. She LOVED her church and church family.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years, Joseph D. Dupree, Jr.; parents, Birel Fisher, Sr. and Ida Conley; three brothers, Birel Fisher, Jr., Edward A. Conley and Jackie Ray Conley,
She leaves the following loved ones to cherish her memory, her children, Dwayne Dupree, Sr. (Celia), Juan A. Dupree, Sedrick M. Dupree, Erica G. Dupree, Ansera B. Dupree, Sr. (Vickie) and Tywana A.
